Clinical Massage Therapy is sometimes referred to as remedial, therapeutic or deep tissue massage. It is outcome driven, designed to assist in the healing process and to target muscle imbalance and dysfunction in a holistic way. Think of it as massage but with a focus on remedial treatment, particularly in the areas where you are experiencing the greatest stress, pain and dysfunction.
This is a complete health and recovery package, incorporating rehabilitation, manipulation and exercise, as appropriate. Each individual is different and each session is based on the needs of the client.

Clinical massage uses an advanced combination of, Myofascial Release, Deep Tissue Massage, Soft Tissue Release, Trigger Point Therapy, Dry Needling, Emmett Technique, Hot and Cold Stones and Sports Techniques and Craniosacral Techniques, to create a unique and tailor-made therapy. Techniques are applied to specific affected areas to significantly improve your quality of life by directly targeting the source of your pain.
Clinical Massage Therapy is suitable for any age, but any patients under the age of 16 need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
What should I expect from my Clinical Massage on the day?
The session commences with a detailed consultation going through medical history and lifestyle including work and leisure activities whilst focusing on the reason for seeking therapy. Questions asked will include:

- How long have you been in pain
- What is the quality of your pain (dull, achey, sharp, tingling)
- Does the pain radiate to other areas: and
- What is your desired outcome from the treatment plan.
An initial orthopaedic assessment (undertaken with the client in underwear or sports bra and shorts) is undertaken looking at the range of movement of specific joints associated with the client’s pain pattern. A treatment plan is individually tailored to your particular needs based on this assessment.
How many sessions will be required?

The aim is to achieve significant results in 1-6 sessions. The results will depend on the severity of the condition and how long it has been present. Chronic conditions may take longer to treat.
Depending on the reason for massage, clients can experience a relief from pain within one to three sessions, but most chronic conditions require 6-8 treatments before long lasting relief is experienced. It is then generally recommended that maintenance treatments every 4-6 weeks are maintained. If relaxation is the client’s goal then one treatment can work wonders!
Will Clinical Massage help me with my injury/condition?
Clinical massage and myofascial release should help with both acute or chronic injuries. It is an holistic approach to pain relief and the body as a whole and I blend a variety of techniques, not often combined in other professions. I work specifically and intuitively with what I see and feel and with what the clients body tells me.
